2016 Deutsche Bank Championship Picks, Including the Driver-Off-The-Deck BOLD Play of the Week #isitThursdayyet

Following Rickie’s gag job down the stretch on Sunday at last week’s Barclays, the PGA Tour heads to Norton, Massachusetts for this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship.  With the Ryder Cup buzz in full force and the FedEx Cup Playoffs picking up steam, it’s a great week to be a golf fan.  Oh yeah, and special note that this week’s tourney is played Friday-Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday.

My picks last week at The Barclays were not overly stellar, but still pretty decent as my Driver-off-the-Deck BOLD play of the week on Billy Horschel came through nicely with a t-13th finish, and my Lockzilla Louis Oosthuizen notched a t-18th finish.  I also spot on nailed the previous week’s winner Si Woo Kim to miss the cut as my BUST pick of the week.

Now, let’s hop into some picks for this week:

LOCKZILLA (Last week: Oosthuizen t-18th)

– Ah yes, Louis is straight puring it again.  I had Louis in this same Lockzilla spot last week and he missed every putt that he looked at over the weekend and still finished t-18th.  He is absolutely flushing it right now, and on friendlier greens this week I expect it to be a different story with birdies and eagles will be flying galore.  Louis finished runner-up here in ’12 and was t-12th last year.  Yep, lock and load on some Louis this week.

SEMI-FLIER (Last week: Molinari MC)

– Team USA Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III has not been shy about professing his love for the youngster and hope for him to make the Hazeltine squad; however, with just two weeks of play left before it’s Captain’s pick time, the pressure is squarely on JT to rise up to the occasion and make the team.  I have my doubts with his flatstick, but his propensity to go-low plus the playoff stache might just add enough spark to see him close to the top come Sunday afternoon.

Sean O'Hair

– He is the prime reason why you can’t get caught up in only looking at last week’s results when making predictions for the following week’s play, as O’Hair is just simply not a consistent player.  In fact, thanks to my buddy Josh Culp as he mentioned in the comments of his weekly preview article on his FutureofFantasy.com site, O’Hair’s finishes the week after a top 20 go like this over the past few years: T34, MC, WD, T42, T53, MC, MC, MC, T12, T29, MC, T61.  Yowza, very Sean O’Hair-ish.  Stay away and thank me later.

DRIVER-OFF-THE-DECK BOLD PLAY OF THE WEEK (Last week: Horschel t-13th)

Kevin Kisner

– Don’t look now, but this 2015 Fall stud is grooving it right back into form, progressively trending up with finishes of t-26th, t-18th and t-10th, before finishing t-46th last week at the Barclays when a Sunday 76 sent him tumbling down the leaderboard.  Also add in that he finished a nifty t-12th here last year, which will just add to his confidence.  This might be the week that puts him back on everyone else’s fall radars, so don’t be too late to the party.
