Roberto Castro Fires Course Record Tying 63 to Lead PLAYERS Championship, “Tweeter Alliss” Follows With Best Tweet Ever

Unknown, redheaded and non-Hispanic looking Roberto Castro ignited TPC Sawgrass to the tune of a 9-under 63 on Thursday, tying the course record held by WGHOFers Fred Couples and Greg Norman.  Castro, whose mother is Peruvian and whose father is Costa Rican, played his college golf at Georgia Tech, where he was a first team All-American in ’05 and a second teamer in ’07. He also won the Byron Nelson Award as the nation’s top senior golfer in ’07.  Since then, well he and his 27-year-old ginger has gone quite unnoticed as he has logged just one PGA Tour top 10 and has floundered in and out of the PGA Tour throughout his pro career.

Following his sizzling opening round, I’m guessing there were more than just a handful of fans caught a little off guard when he removed his cap to show his ginger hair, not a Hispanic face.

Tweeter Alliss (pretend Peter Alliss’ Twitter account) followed with possibly the most hilarious tweet of all time.  My cheeks hurt from laughing so hard.

Here’s Alliss’ tweet:
