Following one of the most captivating, exhilarating and nerve-wracking finishes in Masters history in which Adam Scott prevailed with a birdie on the second playoff hole over Angel Cabrera, it’s hard to imagine the drama and excitement on Sunday at Augusta National reaching an even higher peak.  Yet, going back to a Tweet that I recall from Gary Williams from Golf Channel following last year’s Masters, I believe that the Augusta committee is missing a golden opportunity.

Nick Faldo Completely Flip-Flops His Stance On Tiger’s Penalty #DropGate

I’ve definitely become a big Nick Faldo fan over the years.  Off to what I felt was a slow start in his career as a golf commentator in being a little overly bland and blah his first couple years in the booth, Faldo has really stepped up his game as being more open, honest and critical throughout each telecast.  His tempered, yet delightful and charming British wits make him a true pleasure to listen to on air.

14-Year-Old Tianlang Guan Penalized For Slow Play at The Masters With One Hole Remaining

There are three reasons that people quit the game of golf- it’s too difficult, too expensive and takes too long to play.  No question about it, they’re all issues that are preventing our beloved game’s growth.  Slow play, in my opinion, is the biggest threat to our game, as something about leaving for 4 1/2 or 5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday just doesn’t seem to fit well into the family’s weekend plans.
